Commission continued

In this stage, having fleshed out composition and colours, I placed a veil of opposite colour over each patch of colour. Pale yellow/orange over sky blue and a soft mauve over sandy colour will give further layers richness and solidity. I used indigo and ultramarine oil stick for linear strokes and mark making gesture. I need to wait until the dark horizontal texture dries before I Use an orange oil stick to create a solid line that is drawing wet onto a dry surface to prevent the indigo and orange from blending. Next layer will require more build up of colour before I lay in small areas of glaze.

New Commission

This commission happened due to an art lover viewing on line one of my small studies in pastel and charcoal drawn over a digital print taken from one of my larger paintings. The study on paper sizing up often demands some compositional arrangement and more tonal subtlety. Translating a small pastel into oil paint always interesting.

So today I begin.
